Gallivantin' with Gough - January, 2006
Well Happy New Year folks! It's hard to realize we've
started another new one already. 2005 was yet another
interesting and fun year around the Gough's old corral.
We began the year doing some nice spots for the
Gaylord Texan Hotel near Dallas, did several nice
commercials for various state agencies in Austin and
revived the old "Good Guy's in the White Hats" for my
friends
The
New West Group in Oklahoma City. If you're near
Norman and need some wheels go see the FDR Brand...tell
'em old Jim sent you!
I narrated a few more audiobooks for Otis Clifton (Otis
Audio, Inc.) by the great writer Matt Braun. We'll have
some of these available on CD on this site soon. I also
read "Rider of the Ruby Hill's" by Louis L"Amour for
Blackstone Audio. I'm going to do another good western
story by him very soon.
I was thrilled to be selected for the narrator of a film
shot on a large West Texas Ranch by my friend Alex
Carduff in Dallas at
Scottish
Rite Children's Hospital as well as a presentation
for the
Texas Deer Association.
We finished the year with a national TV voice-over for
Adams Extract Company that will play statewide on a
cable channel. Also did a TV voice-over for the "Don't
Mess With Texas" campaign that celebrates that group's
20th anniversary. Look for it on TV in Texas soon.
Musically, 2005 was great as in years gone by. The
Cosmopolitan Cowboys played several nice gigs aound
Austin as well as Gail's society Trio. A 'new' band was
born in mid-December as Gail put together a fine combo
with piano, bass, drums, trumpet and sax. We premiered
the group at Del Webb's Sun City. It was a roaring
success and we'll play again in March at the beautiful
Lago Vista Dance Club. They are billing the group as
"Gail Gough and her Cosmopolitans." How about that?
I'm in the process of putting together an appearance by
Herb Remington's Playboys II in Altus, Oklahoma in May.
We've done these shows several times and it's always an
honor to play with the likes of Herb and the great
Johnny Gimble. The show will be held at Fox Building
Supply in Altus on May 6 starting around noon. If you're
in the area be sure to drop on by. I finally finished my
CD, "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" Look for it on
this site soon as well.
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season with friends,
family and relatives and hope you did as well. Here's
hoping we all have a great 2006. Stay well and stay in
touch.
