Wellsir, things have been picking up around the Rancho-Notso-Grande lately. In my role as the voice of "Golden Chick" Restaurants, I recently recorded three new TV spots for the Austin market. We've also done new TV voice-overs for Alan Young GMC that are playing in the Metroplex area.

I had a real pleasant surprise recently and was picked up for some on-camera TV spots to promote Holmes Smokehouse Sausage on Houston stations. The folks that hired me were old friends I worked with many years ago when my office was on Highway 59. The founders of Holmes Smokehouse in Pleak, Texas were personal friends of mine. Now my many pals in Houston are seeing 'ol Jim sitting in a rocking chair whittlin' and telling folks about the great taste of Holmes' sausage. I'm proud to be back on Houston TV as that's where it all began so long ago.

My friends at Houston's Radioworks have written a 'talkin' blues' type radio spot for me that will air in Houston soon as well. I'm still on San Antonio radio stations plugging Bandera Chevrolet, and in Austin for Smokey Mo's Barbeque.

On the music front, The Cosmopolitan Cowboys have played some nice gigs around Austin and I played bass and sang with my friend Rod Moag's band on a riverboat on Lake Austin a while back. The all-star band included Bert Rivera, Floyd Domino and the old "Texas Drummer Boy", Johnny Cuviello.

If you're in Central Texas in late September, plan on making the "Up the Chisolhm Trail" celebration on the square in Georgetown. We'll celebrate the cattle drives of the 1800's that originated in Texas and trailed all the way to the railheads in Kansas. We'll drive longhorn cattle up main street, have roping demonstrations, cowboy poets, barbeque and all the trimmings. My band, The Cosmopolitan Cowboys, will play that evening near the courthouse steps. Mark your calendars for September 29th!

That's about it for now...have a great Summer!
