Gallivantin' with Gough - September 5, 2008

Wow! What a Summer! It all started with Jim being inducted into the Cowtown Society of Western Music Hall of Fame in early May. Then, the end of May he was inducted into the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame in San Marcos. Jim played and sang with some of the biggest names in Texas music...Herb Remington, Maurice Anderson, Skeeter Elkins, Bob Boatright, and old friend, Bill Dessens, among many more.

Jim continued as spokesman for Golden Chick restaurants with new spots recorded in the Summer. he was hired as spokesman for Monterey Tex-Mex Cafe in Tulsa and cut several spots for that account as well.

The Summer wrapped up with Jim and Gail heading to Seattle where Jim was inducted into their Western Swing Hall of Fame. It was a wonderful experience with the Goughs making many new friends and seeing the sights around the area.

Jim and Gail rode the ferries to  to Sidney, B.C. winding around through the pretty San Juan Islands. They visited the Butterfly Gardens and trekked to historic Victoria.

It was on to Los Angeles where Jim recorded two national radio spots for Pfizer Animal Health and narrated an entire western audiobook, "Guns of Mark Jardine" at the historic Had Hatter Studios in Hollywood. Look for it to be released by Galaxy Press soon.

The Goughs visited the famous Author's Services, Inc. beautiful headquarters on Hollywood Blvd., the building that houses L. Ron Hubbard's impressive array of photography and novels. While in Hollywood they were given a personal tour of the famous Capitol Records Tower. Can you imagine how awesome it was to stand in the very studio where Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Nat Cole cut so many hit records? Gail even got to play Nat's piano!

Upon returning home, Jim recorded spots for the Texas Music Project and Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association.

Yep, it was a terrific Summer and we're looking forward to the Fall. Jim has roles in a couple of movies to be filmed around Austin and as usual, we're looking forward to playing some Holiday parties with our groups. Stay tuned!
